In an offensive explosion, the Knights captured their first victory of the season against rival Northwood. The 54 point score was the highest point total Wheaton Football has seen in recent memory. Next week, the Knights face another DCC rival in Blair High School.
The Knights got off to a fast start scoring two touchdowns on the first two consecutive plays. The first touchdown was a 56 yard jolt by Lovell Djieya. This was topped off by D'Andre Bueno's extra point kick. The second touchdown was a 16 yard scamper by Shavon Cameron. These two touchdowns gave the Knights a 13 point lead. On the next drive, Russell Hoes hooked up with London Lampkin for a eight yard touchdown reception. Lovell added a two point conversion securing the Knights 21 point lead. Lovell then scored a second personal touchdown by breaking free down the left side line. Bueno's kick gave the Knights their 28 point lead at the end of the first quarter. And what it quarter it was!
The Knights scored three more touchdowns in the second quarter. Shavon Cameron scored his second touchdown, Lovell Djieya scored his third touchdown and Emari Davis scored his first touchdown, putting the Knights up 48 -0. Northwood scored a late touchdown bringing the half time score 48 – 6.
Dagmawi Adugna recorded his first interception of the season.
Lorenzo Alredge ended the scoring of the game on a eight yard touchdown run. This last touchdown brought the Knights to their first win of the season with a score of 54-6.
