The Wheaton High School JV Boys Basketball won their season opener against the Gaithersburg Trojans by a final score of 60-55. The Knights got off to a fast start and led by 10 at the end of the first quarter. The Trojans cut the margin to three points at the half, before the Knights expanded on their lead in the third quarter and held on for a victory in the fourth.
Nine players recorded points for the Knights and they were led by freshman guard Michael Girma with 18 points. Freshman guard Nicolas Coleman was the second leading scorer with 8 points which all came in the second half of play. Freshman Lamar Logan provided a spark off the bench with stellar defense and 6 points in critical situations.
The Knights next game will be played against the Blake Bengals. The game will be in Blake High School on Saturday December 8th with tip-off scheduled for 12:45 p.m.
