The Wheaton Knights Boys JV Basketball team defeated the Northwood Gladiators by a score of 69-61. The Knights trailed by three after an up and down first quarter but ultimately took the lead for good in the second period. The lead extended to 14 points in the fourth quarter before the Knights put up their highest point total of the season with 69 points.
The Knights were tough defensively, their pressure forced over 20 turnovers including 14 steals. Sophomore Yabsira Getahun was the leading scorer again with his JV basketball career high of 21 points. The Knights again had nine players tally points with sophomore Abenezer Getachew leading the Knights to a high scoring first quarter in which he scored 4 of the 18 first quarter points. Freshman guards Michael Girma and Nicolas Coleman had strong performances in which they scored 14 and 12 points respectively.
The Knights next opponent will be another member of the Down County Consortium, the Kennedy Cavaliers. The JV Boys Basketball team from Kennedy will be at Wheaton on Friday for a 5:30 p.m. JV tip-off.
