Pedroza Dominant in Complete Game Win
Wheaton Knights 15 Kennedy Cavaliers 2
Freshman Kelvin Pedroza struck out 6 batters and pitched all 5 mercy-rule innings to lead the Knights to a 13 run win, and a sweep of the doubleheader against the Cavaliers. Pedroza, who caught the first game for senior Anushka Fernando, combined with battery mate sophomore catcher Fletcher Smith to provide a glimpse of hope for future Knights endeavors, each sporting a .421 batting average at the end of the day. Smith had 3 hits and an RBI on offense, and Pedroza added his third hit of the day and drew three walks while driving in Fernando with the first run of the nightcap. Fernando and senior center fielder Lee Roy Nchinda each scored three runs in game 2, junior third baseman Michael DePasquale recorded a pair of doubles to raise his batting average to a gaudy and team-leading .571 percentage. Junior second baseman Christian Torres had three hits on the afternoon, including a double and 2 RBI in the second game.
