More Errors Than Hits Lead to Disappointing Result
Churchill Bulldogs 12 Wheaton Knights 2 (6 innings)
The Knights commit 5 errors in the field and only deliver 4 hits at the plate in a disappointing result in Potomac. The Saturday afternoon contest started in a bright fashion with senior Lee Roy Nchinda singling to center, stealing second, and coming home on senior Anushka Fernando’s RBI liner to left-center.
The Bulldogs put 3 on the board in the bottom of the inning as a pair of errors by the Knights and 3 hits put Wheaton in an early hole. The Knights would not score again until the top of the 5th, when Fernando recorded his second single, stole second and came home on junior Michael DePasquales RBI single. It was too little, as the Bulldogs had built a 9 run lead going into the bottom of the 6th. A base on balls, a wild pitch and a double down the third-base line sent home the winning run for the Bulldogs with one out in that inning.
